A Holiday in Louisville

Louisville has always been my home. No, I wasn’t born here; I didn’t always live here, but I have loved it like no other place since I was a little girl. I would visit my dad in Louisville from North Carolina growing up. We called Louisville, Gotham City; it was the only big, lit up skyline I had seen in real life, and I was obsessed with Batman (I didn’t realize at the time that Gotham City was actually New York). This was also around the time we still had the fountain on the river that changed colors – I was utterly mesmerized by this.

When I was 15, I finally got to come back home. I have been able to grow up with this city. I’ve watched it go from quiet, in comparison to other cities of it’s size, to a place filled with culture, entertainment, delicious food, and truly influential people.

The holidays are just another excuse for Louisville to be wonderful. From the downtown lights, the decorated trolleys in Nulu, to the neighborhood festivities in The Highlands and St. Matthews; the magic of Christmas will be everywhere this season. painters in Fisherville

Light up Louisville began the day after Thanksgiving and will run until New Year’s Eve. You can enjoy ice skating on Fourth Street, beautiful light projections, and fireworks. Also, don’t forget about the last Friday of the month Trolley Hop in Nulu, where you can anticipate wreathed trolleys, decorated store fronts, and maybe even some delicious specials. On December 1st, you can get a double dose of fun with Bardstown Road Aglow, and Light up St. Matthews. These are usually complete with cider and hot chocolate, street karaoke, special restaurant deals, and even Santa.

As Louisvillians we should really get out there and support our neighborhoods, and enjoy the fun. Our own Louisville painters, and even some of our clients are part of these upcoming events. Let’s say thank you to them for making our city so warm and friendly, even at the coldest of times.
